Serving brings much JOY

"When we are in the service of our fellow beings, we are only in the service of our God"

Here are the last of my notes from the General RS broadcast on Sept 29th, 2012. President Henry B Eyring spoke:

We must cherish one another, watch over and comfort one another.
We need to help each other prepare for what is to come.
If we aren't willing to help others then our faith is vain. We should be more willing to serve.

We are all in unique places in our life. We are all daughters of our Heavenly Father. Because of our different places in life, we can use and take these opportunities to grow and learn from each other.
How we do this is by learning to recognize the promptings of the spirit.
The Lord needs our willing hands and hearts. What we do each day can influence the spirit.
If we want the promptings, we need to make sure we are not surrounded by distracting things, or things that will keep us from doing His work.

Sometimes we will find that our help is unwanted, turned down, misunderstood, hard or uncomfortable. The timing may also not be great.  But if we do it with a willing heart and do our best we will be blessed.  We will feel love for the people we serve.
Frustration and fatigue may also follow, but remember that we are not to do it alone!
We need to call on others as well. Caring for those in need takes a team. We are not expected to run faster than we have strength.

Do all YOU can do to help, then let someone else have a turn.
Remember your own needs may need some tending to. You may need to regain strength.
If thou will endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high.
Practice charity till the end of someones life such as a spouse or child or parent.
Accept the help of others!
The Savior is there as we invite Him, which also means we may need to accept the help of others.
